I've been trying to lose about 15lbs and get to my goal weight of 130. I'm 5'3" and weigh 145. I've been dieting for about 4 weeks and have only lost 5lbs. I've been doing yoga/pilates 2 times a week for about a month. What do I need to do differently to lose weight faster. Bigger people I've noticed would have lost this weight by now and I don't know what else to do! I have a lung and heart disease called pulmonary hypertension, so no diet pills or crazy workouts. Some advice please! ![]()

Not necessarily. It took me a month to lose 10 pounds. Ideally you should lose a pound a week, which is normal. Just continue eating 3 normal meals a day, and 2 fruit snacks, and you will see the scale go down.
Actually, bigger people lose weight slower. And, actually, what you have been losing is the perfect amount for the time you have spent exercising. Just keep going with it for another couple weeks. But if you want faster weight loss, then try doing just a tiny bit more. Like, add a 10 minute jog once a week to your exercise program. Or if you want it super fast, add a cardio workout.

Junebug, I'm glad that you're aiming to get fit despite your health conditions!I don't think what you're suspecting is true – how fast you lose weight depends on your health habits, not your weight!It probably seems like fat people lose weight quickly because that's what you see in the media – all sorts of stories of people on The BIggest Loser losing incredible amounts of weight in a short time.
I've never tried pilates or yoga before, so I am not sure if they are effective in weight loss.But I do know that cardio workouts, like running, jogging, and swimming, are useful for shedding pounds.You should try doing more cardio from now on.Try to do cardio every week.You should lose pounds from that.

but honestly there is a downfall to losing weight quickly…you are more like to gain it back quickly..and then some! take it from someone that knows!
and 5 pounds a month for you is really not bad at all! And…I'm not encouraging you to gain weight….but is it gonna kill you if you actually dont lose that last ten pounds?
